How do I register with Digital Theatre?
If you would like to sign up as a new customer then please visit registration page by visiting the account registration page at http://www.digitaltheatre.com/registration.
I have forgotten my username and/or password, what should I do?
Your username is always your registered e-mail address. If you have forgotten your password then please visit our password recovery page and enter your registered e-mail address.
A new password will be sent to your inbox immediately. Once you have logged back in to your account be sure to change your password to something more memorable.
How do I change my password?
If you would like to change your password, then log-in to your account here and select change my password.
I did not receive my confirmation e-mail, am I registered?
If you have signed up for an account with Digital Theatre and have not received a confirmation e-mail then check your inbox and check that the confirmation is not in your junk or spam folder. If you still cannot find your confirmation e-mail then try registering again with the same e-mail address or contact our team using the online enquiry form, which you can find at http://www.digitaltheatre.com/contact
What are the differences between Online Rentals, Downloads and HD Downloads?
Online Rentals from Digital Theatre are:
- Available in your library for 30 days with the right to watch as many times as you wish within a 48 hour period, starting from the time you first begin watching.
- Available to watch through a secure Internet connection during the 48-hour period via the Digital Theatre website, digitaltheatre.com or through the Digital Theatre Desktop Player.
- Perfect for beginners - with no software or files to download or install you can begin enjoying your production immediately after purchase.
Downloads from Digital Theatre are:
- Downloaded to your computer. Your chosen title can be downloaded up to three times across a number of different computers.
- Yours to watch unlimited times.
- Normal broadcast quality - perfectly suited to watching productions through a laptop, computer or standard television.
- A smaller file size meaning a faster download speed (when compared with a high definition production).
- Available to watch through the Digital Theatre Desktop Player only.
- Available offline following authentication from the Digital Theatre server (requires Internet connection when first accessing the production).
High Definition Downloads from Digital Theatre are:
- Downloaded to your computer. Your chosen title can be downloaded up to three times if necessary across a number of different computers.
- Yours to watch unlimited times.
- High definition quality - offers greater picture quality and sharpness for the premium viewing experience. Encoded in at least 1280x720 resolution/720p meaning compatibility with high-definition televisions or monitors.
- Available to watch through the Digital Theatre Desktop Player only.
- Available offline following authentication from the Digital Theatre server (requires Internet connection when first accessing the production).
How do I buy or rent a production?
Simply browse our production catalogue here, select your production and choose your preferred format which will be added to your basket. Once done, go to checkout, complete payment and follow the instructions to download or watch online.
If I rent a production how long will I have before it expires?
Online Rentals from Digital Theatre will be available in your content library for 30 days with the right to watch as many times as you wish within a 48 hour period, starting from the time you first begin watching.
What happens if I only watch half of a production before the end of the rental period?
If you have not completed watching the full production before the end of the rental period, then your license will have expired and any further production time will be unavailable for your use. You can extend the rental time after expiry by returning to the Digital Theatre website and adding the item to your basket.
What are the available payment methods?
We accept all major credit cards including MasterCard, Visa, Visa Electron and Maestro (UK only).
How do I redeem a voucher code or Gift Certificate?
To take advantage of a special offer code or a gift certificate, add your chosen rentals or downloads to your basket, go to the checkout and enter the code or certificate redemption code where indicated.
If you are taking advantage of a promotion advertised on our website then simply add the relevant rentals or downloads to your basket and the discount will be applied automatically at the checkout.
Can I use a credit card or debit card from outside of the UK
You can use your credit card from outside the UK, as long as it is registered to the billing address details you have already provided. We accept all major credit cards used internationally however we currently only accept debit card payments made from United Kingdom bank accounts.
What software do I need installed on my computer to play my download?
You will need to download the Digital Theatre Desktop Player which can be accessed from here. The desktop player requires Adobe Air to run successfully which will also be installed when you download the player through the Digital Theatre website. If you experience issues installing the desktop player please refer to the player system requirements which can be found on the Desktop Player download page here.
How do I install the Digital Theatre Desktop Player?
Simply click 'Download Player' and our download manager will do everything for you. Once the download is complete, log-in to the player and locate the 'Download Manager' section. Here you will find a list of productions that you have yet to download as well as any you have downloaded previously
When I access the player for the first time I'm asked to enter my password again. Why?
Purchases through Digital Theatre are controlled through Digital Rights Management to prevent piracy and illegal file sharing. By entering your username and password the Digital Theatre Desktop Player ensures that you are authorised to view purchased content.
Can I transfer my download to another computer?
You can download each purchased production three times. If you wish to access a copy from another computer you can download the Digital Theatre Desktop Player onto the new computer, log-in and you will be able to manage your downloads as you have done previously.
How long will it take for me to download my chosen production?
Download speeds vary and are dependent on your broadband speed and the size of the file. We recommend that you have at least a standard broadband internet connection for quicker downloads.
How can I watch my download on my TV?
You need to connect two cables between your computer and TV. The first one is a VGA or DVI cable; on Mac you need a VGA display adapter. The second one is minijack RCA or Phono cable for audio.
How do I play the production I have downloaded?
You will need to download a the Digital Theatre Desktop Player, log-in and locate the 'Download Manager' where you will be able to begin downloading your productions. Once complete you can play your chosen production by location the 'My Downloads' area, finding your newly downloaded production and clicking the play button.
Can I burn a download onto a DVD?
As part of our agreements with our theatre partners all content must be protected through Digital Rights Management. This is in order to safe-guard and protect the hard work of the many individuals who contribute to the staging of any single production. As such productions cannot be downloaded on to DVD or viewed outside of the Digital Theatre Desktop Player.
Can I screen productions in a classroom or lecture hall?
Downloads are licensed for home use only and should not be screened within classrooms, lecture halls, cinemas or any other public venue. If you are an educator and would like to utilise the productions for educational purposes then visit the education section of the website for information on annual subscriptions through Digital Theatre Plus.
I can't watch the title I rented anymore. Why?
Online Rentals from Digital Theatre are available in your library for 30 days with the rights to watch as many times as you wish within a 48 hour period which starts from the point when you first begin playback. After this period your license expires and productions are automatically removed from your library.
Are Online Rentals available for all productions?
All titles available within the Digital Theatre production catalogue are available as Online Rentals.
How fast does my Internet connection need to be for Online Rentals?
The Digital Theatre system automatically detects your bandwidth speed when you watch a rental production. You can have a better video quality if you have a high Wi-Fi connection. To enjoy high quality, uninterrupted production playback you'll need an internet connection that delivers at least 1-2Mbps of sustained bandwidth.
