Today, 26 March 2010, Digital Theatre is proud to announce its first collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The RSC`s joyous and vibrant new production of `The Comedy of Errors`, created in association with Told by an Idiot, has been touring venues across the UK. This spirited new version demonstrates the RSC`s commitment to making Shakespeare accessible and Digital Theatre are delighted to be able to extend that mission.
Specially created for schools and family audiences, and born out of the RSC`s commitment to providing great first experiences of Shakespeare for young people, this high-energy 90-minute condensed version, edited by Gary Owen, sees two sets of brothers try to make sense of the strange world around them.
When two sets of identical twins with identical names are shipwrecked as infants their father can save only one of each set. Years later, one Antipholus and one Dromio arrive in Ephesus only to find that everyone there seems a little odd?
Following its acclaimed performances in venues all over the Black Country last year, The Comedy of Errors will also play live in repertoire for seven performances only at The Courtyard Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon between 7 August - 11 September 2010.
Additionally from today, Digital Theatre are also offering a live streaming service, which enables the user to enjoy instant access to the current selection of filmed productions available on the site without having to download the Digital Theatre player.
"I doubt you could see it without feeling Shakespeare is your contemporary, whether you are nine or 99"
The Guardian
The production in association with Told by an Idiot is compacted into a stunning ninety minutes. This fresh and vivid staging was directed by Paul Hunter and is a perfect introduction to Shakespeare and one of his sunniest works. New power has been drawn from the play`s tumble of mistaken identities. To watch the trailer click here.
