A powerful and disturbing drama about an important issue

Financial Times

Enclosed in a freight container somewhere in Europe, five people huddle together with a common aim. Reach England. Start a new life. Can they rely on each other? And how far will each of them go to get what they want?

You can read a paper to know people smuggling happens. But watch The Container and it becomes a reality, putting faces and voices alongside stories of hope and sacrifice.

Winner of the 2007 Amnesty Freedom of Expression Award, Clare Bayley's play was the hit of the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007. Transferred to a sea container parked outside the Young Vic, each performance seats just 28 people. The Container was produced in association with Amnesty International.

Captured live in a shipping container outside the Young Vic, London, July 2009.
