Brahms: Symphony No. 3
Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 3 is considered to mark an entirely new stage of maturity, and is performed here along with the composer’s first orchestral piece, Variations on a Theme of Haydn. These are presented alongside Karol Szymanowski's Symphony No. 3 - Song of the Night - a musical setting of a 13th-century poem written during his second Franco-Arabic period, which features the acclaimed tenor Toby Spence.
