The Mysteries

This South African adaptation of the Chester Mystery Plays brings to life well known biblical figures in both testaments, from the creation of Adam and Eve to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Death of a Salesman

Arthur Miller adapted his own Pulitzer Prize-winning modern tragedy for this 1966 television production with Lee J. Cobb and Mildred Dunnock reprising their original Broadway roles. Cobb delivers a career-defining performance as Willy Loman, the travelling salesman at the end of his emotional rope. This film also stars George Segal and Gene Wilder in his breakout role.

DV8 - Dead Dreams of Monochrome Men

Loosely based on the acts of serial killer Dennis Nilsen, this dance theatre piece by DV8 Physical Theatre explores the forces of societal homophobia and what drove Nilsen to kill for company. Created and performed by Lloyd Newson, Nigel Charnock, Russell Maliphant and Douglas Wright, this 1989 film is an emotionally raw look at lust and loneliness.

DV8 - Strange Fish

Pablo Picasso at Pompeii

Against the picturesque backdrop of Mount Vesuvius, the ancient Roman theatre of Pompeii hosts a colourful open-air event in honour of Pablo Picasso. Celebrating the centenary of his visit to Italy, two ballets with sets and costumes designed by this legendary Spanish artist are staged: parade, with music by Erik Satie, and Igor Stravinsky’s Pulcinella.

Some Like It Hip Hop

A comedy of love, mistaken identity and revolution that revolves around Jo-Jo and Kerri, two women who disguise themselves as men to thrive in a patriarchal city. Captured live at London’s Peacock Theatre in 2019, this hip hop twist on Some Like it Hot by ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company was nominated for Best Dance Production at the Black British Theatre Awards in 2020.

La Traviata

Verdi’s best-loved work is performed by a star cast in a revival of Richard Eyre’s highly acclaimed 1994 production. Alfredo and the courtesan Violetta fall passionately in love. But Violetta is seriously ill and Alfredo’s father disapproves of their relationship – can their love overcome such obstacles?

Hansel and Gretel

Diana Damrau and Angelika Kirchschlager star in this acclaimed 2008 production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s famous fairy tale opera. With a libretto based on the Brothers Grimm story, this classic opera features a host of characters including the Sandman, the Dew Fairy, and the Witch.
